Maharaja Purna Chandra College (MPC) is premier institution of higher education in Odisha. The college was setup in post independent India way back in July 1948, during the rule of popular ministry under the aegis of Maharaja Pratap Chandra Bhanjdeo, the then Ruler of Mayurbhanj.

The Rulers of Mayurbhanj under the Bhanja dynasty were well known for their vision, efficient administration and pro people welfare schemes. They were patrons of art, culture, literature, sports and education. Maharaja Krushna Chadra Bhanjdeo, generously donated funds which helped in setting up the Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. It was because of the contribution of the Rulers of the Mayurbhanj that a Medical School could be established in Cuttack, which is known as Sriram Chandra Bhanj (SCB) Medical College and Hospital, today. The Rulers of Mayurbhanj made pioneering effort in establishing Utkal Sammilani, which later played a vital role in uniting the people of Odisha and fighting for its honour and dignity.

The MPC College which started in MKC High School Campus in 1948 was shifted to the majestic Mayurbhanj Palace in Baripada in 1960: It finally shifted to its sprawling campus at Takhatpur on the outskirts of the Baripada town in the year 2000. It was also granted autonomous status in the same year.

The College has an illustrious alumni who have occupied prominent positions in the State, country and globally. In its long journey of 75 years, its students have earned name and fame in all fields such as education, bureaucracy, defence, police, merchant navy, medical, engineering, politics, cinema, music, sports, science and technology, banking and social service. It is a matter of great pride for the College that its alumni are shining stars at each every nook and corner of the globe.

We play an important role by representing the views of our members and contributing to building an engaged and supportive alumni community appropriate to a world class Educational Institution with Indian Ethos. We bring to life the brotherhood and the sense of belonging between old students who have walked towards their goals. We give our Alumnus a platform to come together, meet and share experiences which otherwise would have been difficult in their busy schedule.
